ABOUT: Mark Rochlitz
knew at a very early age I wanted to be a contractor. From one of the very first times I walked into a home improvement store and saw all the tools and building materials I just knew I had to be a part of this industry! From then on…construction, building and being a Contractor became my dream! After high school I enrolled in the Construction Technology Program at El Camino Junior College and earned an Associated Science Degree. This accredited program counted for two years of the required four years of field experience to attain a Contractor’s License with the California State License Board (CSLB). While attending school, I worked as a finish carpenter for a custom home builder in Manhattan Beach, where I grew up. After El Camino, I transferred to Cal. St. Dominguez Hills while working for a framing and concrete contractor. Framing houses and forming concrete foundations is how I gained a significant amount of knowledge in residential home building. I graduated with a degree in Economics and obtained my Contractor’s License in 1998. I worked on my own for a couple of years completing a handful of residential remodels and additions. I then decided to get into commercial construction to take on larger, more challenging projects. I was hired as a superintendent for a company that specialized in hospital and medical office construction located in downtown Los Angeles. We worked on OSHPD and medical tenant improvement projects, that were for Cedars-Sinai, Providence St Joseph’s Hospital, UCLA Medical and more. I later moved up to an estimator position bidding on large scale private and public works projects.
After several years in the commercial field and working on residential projects for friends and family on the side, I felt the calling to go out on my own full time. Starting any business is difficult, but 2008 was a particularly tough economic time, especially in the housing market, but through hard work and persistence, MROCK Construction has succeeded and continues to strive for excellence.
Throughout the years, I have been developing long term relationships with clients, architects, and designers while building my business and enjoying life with my wife and three kids.
